Through a variety of youth based programs, the Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon help to further develop the next generation of leaders. Through local programing inlcuding the Rotary Youth Exchange and Adventures in Technology, we help young leaders build leadership skills, expand education and learn the value of service.
Rotary Youth Exchange
Rotary Youth Exchange builds peace one young person at a time.
A participant of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program will spend up to a year living with host families and attending school in a different country. The Short-term exchange is a true exchange of month between school years.
Rotary’s long-term or short-term Youth Exchange programs provide an opportunity for a student to experience a new way of living, to mature, be immersed in a different culture and to learn a new language. The Exchange student will be an ambassador for Canada, will share Canadian culture and ideas with new friends.
District 5550 Exchange Scholarship students routinely describe the experience as the best of their lives. Their lives are enriched by the experiences of the year, by their new linguistic skills, and by the friends and contacts they make.
The program is open to students between ages 16 – 18 in the year of departure to such countries as Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, Taiwan, Japan, Spain, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. This list is constantly reviewed.

Adventures in Technology
Enhancing our youths awareness and understanding of technology in todays world.
Adventures in Technology is a comprehensive, carefully planned four and one-half day program that allows Grade 11 and 12 students to explore advanced technology, research, development and applications. The experience enhances each student’s awareness and understanding of technology, the many ways it affects our lives, and the opportunities it holds for tomorrow.
Saskatoon has been a leader in applying various modes of technology for decades. The University of Saskatchewan has been the incubator and Innovation Place is a natural extension of this. The five Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon jointly organize and host a maximum of 28 students from across Western Canada, including Manitoba and northern Ontario. The sponsoring Rotary club pays transportation costs and the registration fee which covers all of the participants costs.
During their visit, students will tour an exciting array of some of Canada’s most interesting corporations and research facilities including the University of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Light Source. These organizations offer tours, provide hands-on learning opportunities and informative lectures.
